Quick Memory Verse Games on the Go!

Echo Game- Help the children learn the verse by having them echo the words. You can add actions or skip
words like in the song “B-I-N-G-O”

Sing Time, Can you Rhyme?- Have children make up tunes to sing the verse

Sign Time- if you know sign language you can teach the children how to sign the verse

Card games- Talk to the children about the memory verse as you quickly make up a set of cards using ¼ of a
page of construction paper. Fold the page in half and rip in two, then fold again. Write one word or two on each
card depending on how long the verse is. These can be used for relay races to put the verse in order, or a hop
and say game. Tape the cards to the floor randomly and have the children hop to each word in order as they
say the verse. Have the children help you come up with silly actions to do and print the instructions to the
actions on the back of the card. Have the children try to remember what word went with each action, and to do
the actions in order.

Code- Divide the group into 2 or 3 groups, have each group make up a secret code and write a memory verse
in code. Exchange messages to another group and see if they can crack the code and discover the verse.
Great for unit reviews.

Bookmarkers- if you have supplies on hand you can have children make bookmarkers out of construction paper
or fold a sheet of paper in four and tape the edge to make it thicker and more durable. Have the children write
the verse on and decorate. The children can then exchange them with their friends. This activity is great if there
is extra time in your class and you have run out of planed activities.

Memory Verse Tag- Choose one person to be “it”, when they have tagged a person if they can say the first word
in the verse they are safe, the next person tagged says the second word in the verse and so on. If they can’t
say the next word in the verse they are it and the game starts over Continue playing until the verse has been
said and all have had a chance to be “it”.
