Commandments to Children Specifically:

•        Commit your heart to God… Prov 23:26; O my son, give me your heart. May your
eyes delight in my ways of wisdom.
•        Honor your father and mother…

•        Show respect to the elderly…  Lev 19:32; “Show your fear of God by standing up
 in the presence of elderly people and showing respect for the aged. I am the
LORD.
•        Learn how to worship (see Lev 19:32) and praise…Psa. 148:12, 13; young men
and maidens, old men and children. Let them all praise the name of the LORD. For
his name is very great;
•        Heed (do not forget) the instruction of their parents and seek wisdom (know what
God says is the right thing to do and do it)…Prov. 1:8, 9; Prov. 3:1–3; Prov. 4:1–4,
Prov.4:10, 11, Prov.4:20–22; Prov. 5:1, 2; Prov. 6:20–25; Prov. 8:32, 33;   

Prov. 23:22-23, Listen to your father, who gave you life, and don’t despise your mother’s
experience when she is old. Get the truth and don’t ever sell it; also get wisdom,
discipline, and discernment.

Lam. 3:27; And it is good for the young to submit to the yoke of his discipline. Col. 3:20

•        Set an example to others…

1 Tim. 4:12; Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example
to all believers in what you teach, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your
purity.

Titus 2:6-8 In the same way, encourage the young men to live wisely in all they do. 7
And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good deeds of every kind. Let
everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching. 8 Let your
teaching be so correct that it can’t be criticized. Then those who want to argue will be
ashamed because they won’t have anything bad to say about us.

•        Resist temptation and choose friends carefully…

2 Tim. 2:22; Run from anything that stimulates youthful lust. Follow anything that makes
you want to do right. Pursue faith and love and peace, and enjoy the companionship of
those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.
