Learning Activities with Coloring Pages

Bible Story coloring pages provide a quick and easy way to introduce a story or
help to review. Life application pages help children understand how to apply the
truth to their lives, where as memory verse pages help child better memorize the
verse. Guided conversation is important in making any activity a Bible-learning
activity. Remember to constantly be engaging the children with conversation to use
coloring pages most effectively.  Here are some ideas to enrich the activity further.

Tactile Pictures- provide rice, beans, cotton, glitter, fabric, felt, popped popcorn, or
small objects Dried rice

Pictures- Use one cup of rice per color and five drops of food coloring. Mix in a
small baggie. Allow rice to dry and glue to pictures. Pop-up Picture- provide 2
copies to each student; have them cut out a shape to pop out. Glue small pieces of
folded paper on the bottom copy to raise the shape up.

Big Books- Mount pictures on poster board and write a story to go along with the
pictures to share with the whole class.

Bulletin Boards- use coloring pages to decorate a themed display

Bible Lesson Visuals- enlarge and color, mount on poster board and cover with
clear self-adhesive paper for durability.

Coloring Books- photocopy several pages and staple together to make a book to
take home.

Posters- Enlarge to 11x17 size or larger and give a poster to each child

Placemats- mount finished pictures on construction paper, add a sentence on about
the picture.
Cover with clear self-adhesive.

Puzzles- Copy, color, and mount on poster board. Cut into pieces (4-6 pieces for
younger children, and 10-12 for middlers, 15-20 for older students)

Bean Bag game- tape 4-8 pages together in a square, place on the floor. Have
children throw the bean Bags on the pictures. Award one point if the can answer a
question about the story or verse.

Mail it home- for absentees’ mail a picture home for them to enjoy, include a brief
note.

Mosaics- glue small pieces of construction paper to fill in the picture.

Act it out- have children act out life application situations illustrated in the coloring
page.

Prayer Time- select pages that illustrate something to be thankful for, or something
to ask God’s help in.
